For no apparent reason, my brain just wrote itself a limerick

There once, long ago, lived a queen
Whose desire to live was quite keen.
Said her heiress, "How nice!
We'll put you on ice,
And thaw you in twenty thirteen!"

twenty thirteen = 2013, as in the year 2013.
Sometimes my brain does these things without first consulting me. And sometimes it does these things while I'm trying to read a serious book before Thursday evening's book group, and I'm not even a third of the way through. It can only concentrate for so long.

I'm reading:
The Denial of Death
by Ernest Becker

This is Hilarious

If you're a food network addict like Paul and I are, click on the title of this post for an hilarious blog written by Anthony Bourdain, discovered on Paperback Writer's blog, linked from East Side Girl's blog, who is a blogger-acquaintence of my cousin's. Anyway, read the blog linked in the title, it's pretty funny. I'm just glad he hates Sandra Lee as much as I do!

new music, yay!

my cds came! i had ordered 3 cds from, and they weren't supposed to even ship until march because one of them wasn't in stock and i had to get them all in one shipment to qualify for free shipping. well, i realized that the song "suddenly i see" was by kt tunstall, the same person as "black horse and the cherry tree," so i cancelled that amazon order and replaced the out-of-stock cd with kt tunstall.

that was yesterday morning, and even with free shipping (which usually takes longer), my cds were waiting in my mailbox this evening!! i can't believe how fast they came! i'm so excited. now i have something to do while paul is at work tomorrow.

i am going to listen to my new cds, pump up my new stability ball, do lots of crunches, and clean the computer desk. it will be great.

my apartment is feeling much nicer now that paul and i did some major cleaning - i vacuumed the whole apartment except the bedroom on wednesday, and then paul surprised me when i got home on thursday by having cleaned up ALL of his HUGE pile of dirty laundry that had been taking up half the bedroom floor, so while he did TONS of laundry, i proceeded to tidy up the rest of the bedroom and finally vacuum in there. if i just tidy up and dust the computer desk tomorrow, and clean off the kitchen table, our apartment will be cleaner than it probably ever has been. hopefully we can keep it that way, or at least manage to slow the pace of the entropy.

so anyway, my three new cds are:
norah jones "not too late" (yay for her new cd!!)
the decembrists "the crane wife" (in honor of stephen colbert)
kt tunstall "eye to the telescope" (i am excited to listen to "black horse and the cherry tree" tomorrow until i know all the words)

PS: i'm taking suggestions from anyone who knows a reasonably priced but quality wedding photographer.

fun day ahead

tonight is game night at sarah's with jeneane and one of jeneane's friends. we're going to play wise & otherwise, mad gab, cranium turbo, and who knows what else. jeneane is bringing a big crock pot full of chili, sarah's going to get sour cream, cheese, and tortilla chips, and paul made carrot cake last night.

so today, i need to frost the carrot cake, and i'm also going to make mini quiches. i've been wanting to try these, so i'm excited...i'll post pictures if they come out well!

i also really need to vacuum and do my nails...
and in the background, i have decided that today is a star wars day. R2-D2 and C-3PO are about to be bought from the Jawas by Luke and his uncle. yay star wars!

into the third star wars movie, han solo & co are trying to land on endor with their secret code: "I don't know, fly casually!"

mini-quiches are in the oven...a bit ghetto-fab, but i think they'll work. but now i really want a mini muffin tin.

cake also looks's going to be delish.

yay for game night preceeded by lots of star wars goodness!

Long Awaited

July 21, 2007!

For those of you who live in a Harry Potter-less hole in the ground, that is the release date of the seventh and final book in the series: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The publisher's price is $34.99, but my friend Jeneane just informed me that it is already available for pre-order on Amazon for $18.89. I just checked (hey, I check all my resources and site references in my blog, right?), and HP is indeed already headlining on Amazon's front page.

I can't believe that, by the time I'm married, Harry Potter will be finished. I'm already in mourning that it will be all over.

But...still...YAAAAAYYYY!!! I'm SO excited. 171 days until HP7!!

213 days until my wedding, by the way.
